We built our first bunkie in 2015 so we could have space for our parents to stay overnightand visit their grandchildren.
Our house wasn’t large enough for everyone, and my Mom was tired of sleeping on the couch, so she encouraged us to build something on our property.
I searched on the internet for a solution. I wanted to find something that was relatively easy to build and a reasonable price. Plus I didn’t want the hassle of getting a building permit.
Then I discovered a solution, bunkies you can build from a kit.
My Dad and I built our first bunkie in one weekend. I loved it so much that we built 4 more. I starting renting out the bunkies on Airbnb as a getaway from the city. They were booked almost every night, year-round and I realized how much these bunkies could help other families.

We want to help create a world where families everywhere have a place to unite, unwind and unplug. We’re in the business of helping families create extra space so they can meaningfully connect with the people who matter most.
Our National Partners
We believe in giving back. We donate one night’s stay at Ronald McDonald House Canada every time we build a bunkie. We support Ronald McDonald House because they provide an important place for families to stay together while their seriously ill child is being treated in hospital.
Since 2020, we raised over $150,000 for RHMC, from every bunkie built, proceeds from the Bunkie Life book and Connection Cards, and donations from the wonderful Bunkie Life community #bunkielifegives
Whenever you purchase a bunkie, we will donate one more night for a family to stay at RMHC Canada.
We also work with Make-a-Wish Canada to help families. Make-a-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
In 2020 we assisted in making a wish happen for Ethan, who was diagnosed with a very rare cancer. He wanted a bunkie from Bunkie Life with all the add-ons. His dream was to have his own bunkie to play video games in. Many wonderful people came together to make his dream come true. Since then we’ve helped out with many different Make-A-Wish builds across Canada.
